Mindfulness, Taoism and Zen Mindfulness, Taoism and Zen practices influence Gestalt therapy. Each emphasizes awareness and attention to yourself, your environment and what occurs between. Through mindfulness exercises, you will improve your focus and attention. With practice, you will learn to stay present-centered and notice your thoughts, body sensations, urges, resistance, and whatever else comes into your awareness. Although challenging, these exercises will help you experience yourself in action. Understanding how you go about living and doing, you can choose to accept yourself as is or make some adjustments. Becoming mindful is similar to getting a new pair of glasses. You see clearly. |
